چکیده

The short-term deformation behavior of immersed tunnels due to daily or monthly temperature changes and tidal variations is often not monitored but forms important input for a structural health assessment the tunnel. In this study, distributed optical fiber sensors (DOFSs) are used monitor (daily monthly) an Joint opening relative settlement differences between tunnel elements simultaneously at subhour intervals. Measurements show that variation in joint strongly correlated with change, gap has tendency open low temperatures close increasing temperatures. Simultaneously, entire section behaves more like rigid body moves upwards downwards periodically fluctuations river, observed vertical movement slightly less than one millimeter. tide also causes local tilting segments, differs winter summer, which implies (seasonal) temperature-induced deformations affect robustness loads. A soil-tunnel structure interaction analysis reveals cyclic driven by retardation wave deeper soil layers, can be captured coupled flow model. This study provides new insights into tunnels.

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...

Cryogenic-temperature profiling of high-power superconducting lines using local and distributed optical-fiber sensors.

This contribution presents distributed and multipoint fiber-optic monitoring of cryogenic temperatures along a superconducting power transmission line down to 30 K and over 20 m distance. Multipoint measurements were conducted using fiber Bragg gratings sensors coated with two different functional overlays (epoxy and poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA)) demonstrating cryogenic operation in the rang...

Weight Measurements by Using Simple Optical-Fiber Sensors (RESEARCH NOTE)

The use of different optical-fiber sensors for weighing measurements is Abstract described. By using three different mechanical stressing mechanisms, the operation of the fiber-to-fiber transducer systems are tested and the results are presented. Parameters such as sensitivity, hysteresis, resolution, and dynamic range are measured. A comparison of the results has shown that the sensor system m...

Monitoring of Railway Deformations using Distributed Fiber Optic Sensors

Natural phenomena like earthquakes, landslides, avalanches or mud flows can cause severe damages of railway tracks. Today’s monitoring concepts either focus on a permanent monitoring of known problematic sites or an epochwise measurement of the railway track with special measurement cars. In this paper we present a new approach for continuous monitoring of railway tracks over long distances. Th...
